October 26 - November 2, 2024

Join Lauren Wood, host of the Women in Trial Travel Summit, for a specially curated small group trip to Morocco in the fall of 2024. Due to overwhelming interest in our November 2-9, 2024, Morocco trip, this trip was added to accommodate additional attendees who would like to join. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit the exciting country of Morocco. This trip showcases the more traditional versions of Morocco, where you will experience the Sahara desert in a luxury tent camp, visit ancient (and often overlooked) cities and experience true Moroccan culture. You'll start in Casablanca, then travel to Zagora before heading out to the desert. You'll spend two nights at the desert camp, then travel back to spend the last few nights of the trip in the exciting city of Marrakech, stopping at famous sites along the way. Attendees will take in the wonderful things that Morocco has to offer, while simultaneously checking off three hours of those pesky MCLE* specialty credits (covering topics like ethics, competency and bias). If you are looking to spend a week bonding with your female colleagues, sharing trial stories, discussing cases, and checking off three hours of MCLE* specialty credits—all while enjoying incredible food, artisan shopping and Moroccan culture—then this group trip is not to be missed.

*Note: MCLE credits are pending State Bar approval.

Casablanca

After breakfast, we'll visit the Hassan II Mosque and the Hobouss, then enjoy a guided tour of the Art Deco District. Lunch will be free so you can find a restaurant of your choosing, where you can enjoy one of the many incredible restaurants out by the waterfront or do your own thing. In the afternoon, we'll do our 3 hours of MCLEs. That evening, dinner will be at your leisure and the evening will be free so you can stroll through Casablanca and perhaps enjoy one of their many cocktail lounges and clubs.

Meet in Casablanca

Book your flight out of the US on Friday to Casablanca Airport (CMN) and aim to arrive in the morning or early afternoon. Once at the airport, you'll be picked up by private transportation. On Saturday, you'll meet up with the group and get checked into your room at the beautiful Le Casablanca Hotel. Lunch is free so you can get situated at the hotel or choose to rest, then everyone will dine together at the famed Rick's Cafe, a restaurant designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie classic Casablanca that evening.

Monday, October 28

Erg Chigaga

After breakfast together, we'll be transported to CMN Airport to board a domestic flight to Zagora (included), so we can head out toward the desert. After arriving in Zagora, we'll be picked up in all-terrain vehicles to drive out into the Sahara desert to get to the Erg Chigaga Luxury Tent Camp in the desert. We'll get situated in our respective tents, then meet at the top of a sand dune for wine and snacks while watching the sunset. That evening, there will be dinner at the tent camp together, then we'll join up by the fire to enjoy some live music.

Tuesday, October 29

Erg Chigaga

After breakfast, we'll spend the entire day at the Desert Camp. Here, attendees can choose to ride camels through the desert, take quads through the dunes, go sandboarding, opt for a guided walk with one of the guides on site, or simply relax in the hammock and read a book. All meals at the desert camp are included and the traditional Moroccan fare is excellent. That evening, we will all enjoy dinner together again. Then we'll enjoy some stargazing: with no light or pollution in the desert, the sky is truly like nothing you've ever seen before!

Travel to Marrakech

We'll depart early in the morning for the trek back to Marrakech. It's a long drive getting out of the desert, but we'll stop at some incredible sites along the way. While off-roading on our way out of the camp, you can typically see fossils from prehistoric times when this part of Morocco was underwater. You'll also stop at Aït Benhaddou, a historic inghrem along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. You'll continue the drive through Tizi N Tichka Peak. At 8 pm, we'll head to a private dinner at the Selman Stables, where we'll enjoy a storyteller and live Andalusian trio.

Thursday, October 31

Cooking Class + Jamaa El Fina

After breakfast, we will start our private Moroccan Tagine cooking class, which is where we will enjoy our lunch. After lunch, we'll have a guided tour of the souks and the spice market, which are known for their incredible artisinal lanterns, rugs, blankets and more. Be sure to either keep space in your suitcase or buy a cheap one to send home, because you will definitely want to do some shopping! In the evening, we will tour Jamaa El Fna square and enjoy a tasting tour of the stalls.

Friday, November 1

Sunrise Hot Air Balloon

At sunrise, we will head outside of Marrakech for a hot air balloon ride. Afterwards, you'll visit the famed Majorelle Gardens & YSL Museum, a museum entirely devoted to the work of the legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent (pictured above for Thursday). The gardens are just so picturesque. Lunch will be free so you can choose to dine either at the gardens or another restaurant nearby. In the afternoon, we'll enjoy a DIY pottery workshop. That evening, we will enjoy a farewell dinner at Almaha Riad.

Saturday, November 2

Depart Home

After breakfast, you'll say your goodbyes to the group and head over to RAK airport for your departure flight. The flights heading home vary tremendously. If you choose to leave in the evening, you can use this as a free day to revisit any of the sites you either missed or visited before but want to return to. Of course, those who wish to extend their trip can stay and arrange their own travel. Attendees choosing to depart outside of the scheduled itinerary must organize their own accommodations and transportation.

Please Read Before Signing Up

Whether you are a new attendee or have attended a prior WITTS Group Trip , please read the following terms, as the terms have changed:

Space for this trip is limited and it is anticipated that it will fill up quickly. After registration, you will be sent a link to pay a non-refundable $1,000 deposit. If you've been on a prior WITTS trip, you may have noticed the deposit is higher. This is because the constant booking and cancellation of attendees is very difficult to accommodate and—because the fall is peak season to travel to Morocco—nearly all the hotels and tours are prepaid.  Your spot cannot be held without paying the deposit. You will have three (3) days to pay the deposit; after which, if payment has not been received, your spot may be given away to someone else. After paying a deposit, 50% of the remaining balance will be due 90 days prior to the start of the trip, with the full balance due 60 days prior to the first day of the trip.

You may have also noticed the price of this trip is higher than some in the past. Again, this is because November is PEAK SEASON for Morocco, meaning it's the most expensive time to go. But what that also means is that we are nearly guaranteed to have beautiful, temperate weather, instead of the excruciating heat of the summer or the cold desert winters. While we will be slightly "roughing it" at the desert camp, the rest of the accommodations are luxury hotels.

This is a group trip.  If you cannot be respectful and kind to other attendees, then this trip is not for you. If you cannot commit to being on time—as a courtesy to other attendees—then this trip is also not for you. Similarly, if you do not do well in a small group setting, you may want to reconsider attending.  If travel stresses you out, then traveling in a group setting probably won't be any easier. If you are particular about sharing a room with people, then you are strongly encouraged to book a single. In sum, negativity on group trips has the ability to ruin other people's trip. For this reason, you are strongly encouraged to think about whether a group trip is right for you before signing up.

If you can commit to being respectful of other attendees, are open to trying new foods and experiences, and are looking for a trip where you will bond with like-minded female trial lawyers and women in the legal industry, enjoy incredible dishes and see what the exciting country of Morocco has to offer, then it would be our pleasure to host you.

*All attendees are required to purchase a travel insurance policy that includes medical coverage. While any travel insurance policy with medical coverage will suffice, attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase a policy with Cancel for Any Reason coverage. In the event that life gets in the way last minute and you are required to cancel within thirty (30) days of the trip, for a reason that is not covered by typical insurance policies, Cancel for Any Reason coverage may help get some of your money back. Please read the entirety of our cancellation policy, along with general Terms & Conditions, HERE.

Flights & Travel Information

You will want to book a Multi-City trip, which can easily be found on Kayak or Google Flights, then purchased directly through the airline. Attendees should aim to depart the US in the morning or early afternoon on Friday, October 25th and arrive in Casablanca (CMN) in the morning or afternoon on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Flights from Casablanca to Zagora will be included. For departure, choose a flight home from Marrakech (RAK) in the afternoon on November 2, 2024. Flights leaving in the afternoon on Saturday arrive back in the US on Sunday morning.

As always, attendees are encouraged to travel elsewhere before or after the trip if they choose. There is also no requirement that attendees stay for the entirety of the trip. However, no discounts will be given if the attendee chooses to depart early. Additional travel is not included in the trip price and will be at the attendee's own expense. If an attendee chooses to arrive or depart outside of the scheduled arrival and departure trip dates, all transportation to join the group will not be included.
