october 4 - 11, 2025
Join Lauren Wood, host of the Women in Trial Travel Summit, for an exclusive small-group journey to Japan in the fall of 2025. This intimate experience offers a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant culture of Japan while earning three hours of MCLE credits*.
From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the historic beauty of Kyoto, ending the trip in dynamic Osaka, every detail of this trip is carefully curated. In Tokyo, you'll visit Shibuya Crossing, The Imperial Palace, Harajuku and Meiji Jingu, while visiting animal cafes and noshing on the delectable foods and drinks that Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gia have to offer. In Kyoto, visit a variety of temples, see the Bamboo Forest and the Gion District, and enjoy a traditional Japanese tea ceremony with a real geisha. Choose an optional day trip to Nara, where you will see the deer roam free. End the trip in Osaka which is known for shopping and its vibrant Dotonbori street, with bright lights and street vendors galore.
The goal of these trips is to have everything arranged for you, so all you have to do is show up. Accommodations, private tours, seamless transportation (mostly on high speed trains when traveling to the different cities), and exceptional dining will all be arranged so you don't have to worry about some of the stresses of travel. But this is more than just a trip—it’s a chance to connect with like-minded women, share trial stories, discuss cases, and immerse yourself in Japan’s rich traditions. If you’re seeking professional growth, meaningful connections, and an unforgettable cultural experience, this is the journey for you.
*Pending certification with the State Bar. Number of credits are dependent upon the number of speakers and time spoken on the trip. A minimum of 6 speakers is required to offer CLEs. If attendees fail to participate, no MCLEs will be applied for.

7 Day Itinerarys
Sunday, October 5
Tokyo Sightseeing
After breakfast, we'll head out on a walking tour of Tokyo. You'll see the Imperial Palace, the famed Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo Tower and the Meiji Jingu temple. A casual lunch will be provided. After the temple, we'll visit Harajuku and Takeshita Street, and later an animal cafe where you can interact with various animals while enjoying tea. That evening, we'll do a private food and culture tour of Tokyo's best street food. Later that evening will be free to enjoy Tokyo's vibrant nightlife.

Saturday, October 4
Meet in Tokyo
Book your flight to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) and aim to arrive in the afternoon or early evening. Once at the airport, you'll be picked up by private transportation. On Saturday, you'll meet up with the group at the hotel, where you will check in and get situated in your room. Since attendees arrive at various times, the afternoon and evening will be considered "free time" where attendees can choose to sleep off the jet lag, book restaurants of their choosing, shop in Shibuya or book a massage at the hotel (recommended to do in advance).

Monday, October 6
MCLEs + Free Day
After breakfast, we'll do 3 hours of MCLEs at our hotel. Today is a "free day" after the educational sessions, where you can choose to shop, visit Tokyo's landmarks and museums, or simply relax back at your hotel. There are so many things to do in Tokyo, so you should use this free day to your advantage! Book one of Tokyo's many famed Michelin Star restaurants (recommended to do in advance) or enjoy a true omakase sushi experience where many of Tokyo's best sushi restaurants only seat 7-12 people. The shopping in Tokyo is also incredible.
Tuesday, October 7
Travel to Kyoto
After breakfast, we'll take the Shinkansen train to Kyoto (train tickets included). This is a high speed train that takes passengers from Tokyo to Kyoto in just 2 hours. We'll enjoy ramen for lunch upon arrival in Kyoto. The afternoon will be free to explore temples. Optional add-on: sake tasting and brewery tour. That evening, we will head to dinner at a local eatery in Kyoto. After dinner, attendees can choose to stay in and rest or go out on the town, visiting the Gion district, where geishas are known to stroll.

Wednesday, October 8
Geisha Ceremony
After breakfast, you'll head out to see the Bamboo Forest, then Kyoto's Silver Temple, the Teneryu-ji Temple. That afternoon, you'll enjoy a private tea ceremony where you'll dress in a kimono and watch a traditional tea ceremony with a real geisha. After the tea ceremony, we'll head back to the hotel to relax before dinner, get freshened up, and then head back out together for a traditional kaiseki (multi-course) dinner in Kyoto. This will be your last night in Kyoto, so you're encouraged to try The Common One Bar or the Hideaway Bar on your own time after dinner.
Thursday, October 9
Optional Day Trip to Nara
This is a "free day" where you can either choose to spend extra time in Kyoto or do an optional add-on for a day trip to Nara. Those opting to do the add-on will take the JR line rapid train to Nara, which is a 45 minute ride. You'll then enjoy a private tour of Nara, with friendly local guides, who are not only knowledgeable, but also passionate about their city. Once the capital of Japan, Nara is famous for its serene temples and a shrine, stunning gardens, and the iconic free-roaming deer. Dinner will be free back in Kyoto.

Friday, October 10
Travel to Osaka
After breakfast at the hotel, we will take the JR Yamatoji line train from Nara to Osaka, which takes about 50 minutes (train tickets included). We'll leave our bags at our hotel in Osaka and then head to the LV Cafe. We'll spend the afternoon shopping and walking the streets of Osaka and then meet in the lively entertainment area of Dotonbori, known for its gaudy neon lights, extravagant signage and the most iconic street food! We'll nosh on various Osaka favorites, like takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu. This is our last night together as a group.
Saturday, November 9
Depart Home
After breakfast, you'll say your goodbyes to the group and head over to Osaka Kansai International (KIX) for your departure flight. Most flights leave in the evening, arriving in the US the following day. If you choose to leave in the evening, you can use this as a free day to visit any of the sites you missed or want to return to. Optional add-on: Spa package. All attendees will be provided with transportation to the airport on this day. Attendees departing from other locations or airports need to book their own transportation.

Please Read Before Signing Up
Whether you are a new attendee or have attended a prior WITTS Group Trip , please read the following terms, as the terms have changed:
After submitting an application, all applications will be reviewed by WITTS organizers. If accepted, you will receive an invitation to attend the trip and will be sent a link to pay a non-refundable $1,000 deposit. Your spot cannot be held without paying the deposit. You will have three (3) days to pay the deposit; after which, if payment has not been received, an invitation to the trip will be extended to someone else. After paying a deposit, 50% of the remaining balance will be due 90 days prior to the start of the trip, with the full balance due 60 days prior to the first day of the trip.
Please make sure to read our Code of Conduct prior to signing up.
This is a group trip. If you cannot be respectful and kind to other attendees, then this trip is not for you. If you cannot commit to being on time—as a courtesy to other attendees—then this trip is also not for you. Similarly, if you do not do well in a small group setting, you may want to reconsider attending. If travel stresses you out, then traveling in a group setting probably won't be any easier. If you are particular about sharing a room with people, then you are strongly encouraged to book a single. In sum, negativity on group trips has the ability to ruin other people's trip. For this reason, you are strongly encouraged to think about whether a group trip is right for you before signing up.
If you can commit to being respectful of other attendees, are open to trying new foods and experiences, and are looking for a trip where you will bond with like-minded female trial lawyers and women in the legal industry, enjoy incredible dishes and see what the Japan has to offer, then it would be our pleasure to host you.
*All attendees are required to purchase a travel insurance policy that includes medical coverage. While any travel insurance policy with medical coverage will suffice, attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase a policy with Cancel for Any Reason coverage. In the event that life gets in the way last minute and you are required to cancel within thirty (30) days of the trip for a reason that is not covered by typical insurance policies, Cancel for Any Reason coverage may help get some of your money back. Please read the entirety of our cancellation policy, along with general Terms & Conditions, HERE.
Flights & Travel Information
You will want to book a Multi-City trip, which can easily be found on Kayak or Google Flights, then purchased directly through the airline. Attendees should aim to depart the US in the early evening on Friday, October 3rd and arrive in Tokyo at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in the early afternoon. For departure, choose a flight home from Osaka Kansai International (KIX). Flights departing that evening get back the following day, on Sunday.
